Wassail is a spiced and sweetened ale or cider, the name is from the Old English phrase Wase hael, meaning "be well." It was the beverage for the Twelfth Night celebration, celebrated on January 6th, the twelfth night after Christmas. It was a bigger holiday than Christmas in Colonial America, which is why George and Martha Washington chose that day to get married.
Come and celebrate this tradition with the Concord Township Historic Society on December 5th.
